These demos were performed and recorded as live loop studio sessions on October 22, 2023.

The Conjuring Word: A shaman searches for the lost souls of children whose lights have been extinguished by violence.

Ghosts: The memory of an eradicated people survives through time, refusing to be forgotten.

A note:

"The Conjuring Word" and "Ghosts" were not meant to be recorded / released for some time yet. But considering world events that had started unfolding only weeks before, these recordings were prompted as a way of working through the torrents of images and videos being broadcast via social media in real time. I recorded these songs, watched, and waited. Hoped for an end to the atrocities, which didn't come. Instead, we (still) watch dark facets of history repeating themselves, people perpetuating violence once wreaked against ancestors and indigenous peoples.

These songs hint at despair, anger, and helplessness, yet are lined with an air of hope. They ideas are imperfect and visceral in these recordings.

The songs are extensions to the world of Yupanki, bringing in the Shaman - an introduction to the personification of resilience in the story. A symbol of resistance to oppression, colonial occupation, violence, and darkness still permeating our worlds.

These songs are dedicated to the people of Palestine and their struggle towards liberation, as well as their many, many, too many lives lost.
